The Funeral Consumers Alliance of Northeast Florida is based in the greater Jacksonville area, but serves the counties of Duval, Clay, Baker, Nassau and St. Johns.  We are an all-volunteer, nonsectarian, educational, nonprofit organization, with no affilation to any funeral industry service or business. We are dedicated to protecting a consumer's right to choose a meaningful, dignified and affordable funeral.

To accomplish that goal, the Jacksonville chapter of the Funeral Consumers Alliance will:

•  Compile and publish General Price List (GPL) results of a comprehensive survey of all Funeral Homes, Crematories, Cemeteries in the Northeast Florida area
•  Negotiate with local funeral directors to provide dignified, lower-cost funeral arrangements for our members (one Lifetime member contribution of $20 for an individual, $30 for a couple)
•  Educate the consumer by public speaking before groups and organizations, and by offering pamphlets and newsletters on funeral choices in order to increase public awareness of funeral options and regulations according to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the State of Florida
•  Serve as a credible source of information for media covering death and dying
•  Actively support Florida’s consumer-based Funeral legislation in Tallahassee

AVOID HIGH FUNERAL PRICES. Today, over 30% of all of the local mortuaries are owned by a few large corporations. These conglomerates, along with most of the other mortuaries in our area, sell various funeral products and services at high prices. For some families this is not a problem. However, in this economy, most families need to conserve their money. Call us so we can give you a quick overview of how you can save on funeral items and services in the greater Jacksonville area.

CHOOSE A MORTUARY CAREFULLY. When death occurs at home or in a rest home, you are forced to make quick decisions. You need to find a mortuary immediately at a time when you are usually emotionally upset and unable to think clearly. There usually isn't enough time to comparison shop for all of the items and services needed for a funeral. You pick the closest mortuary to your home, the mortuary you hear advertised on the radio, or a mortuary that you have used before. This will usually cause you to overpay by thousands of dollars.
